Hawks Don’t Say Goodbye

Hawks Don’t Say Goodbye, Book 6, Nathan T. Riggins Western Adventure by Stephen Bly

It’s summer in Galena, Nevada. Everyone seems to be leaving town for good. After the harshest winter on record and the shutdown of the Shiloh Gold Mine, Nathan Riggins and his friends watch businesses board up. And gaze at empty houses. Rumors fly that even their school may close. Who will be the next to move away?

When the bank is robbed, Nathan and friend Leah get their answer. It’s not one they would have chosen. However, in facing the loss of his friends, Nathan discovers what truly makes a town feel like home.

Meanwhile, in a deserted hotel, Nathan and Leah come face-to-face with the bank robbers in the most frightening showdown of their lives. Will Nathan have the strength to also confront his greatest fear?

Excerpt from Hawks Don’t Say Goodbye:

Nathan Riggins spent the rest of the afternoon at the bank next to the safe. About 4:00 p.m., Leah brought him a loaf of fresh-baked bread, slices of roast beef, and a bowl of boiled turnips and cabbage. He wolfed it all down.

He was reading a book to Colin entitled Stuart Brannon and the Argentine Outlaws by Hawthorne H. Miller when Brady Wheeler walked in. He announced it was time to load up.

“Did you tell my mother what’s going on?” Nathan asked Leah.

“Yeah, she sent your coat, your canteen, and your carbine. She said to be careful and tell ya she was prayin’ for you and Colin.”

Praying? Lord, how come I haven’t been praying? Please keep Colin alive. You’ve got to help him!
