Here’s an excerpt from Stephen’s current project:
CREEDE OF OLD MONTANA SERIES: Book #1 The Lady Who Lingered Too Long
When Avery Creede trudged into the street a shoe bounced off his shoulder. He yanked his revolver out of the holster as he caught the second shoe with his left hand.
The woman in the yellow dress frowned at the edge of the balcony of Fort Benton’s Grand Hotel. “I hate you.”
“I hear that fairly often.” He holstered the Colt and scooped up the other shoe. The black lace-up boots had been polished recently, but now dust covered them. Both showed a slight hole forming in the leather sole.
She leaned over the railing revealing more than prudence allowed. “Give those back to me.”
Avery wiped them on his pant’s leg. “You threw them away.”
“I want them back.”
“I’ll give them to you when I return with the deputy. They’ll make good jail shoes.”
“So help me, I’ll kill you.”
“You’re not the first woman to tell me that.”

Follow the adventures of Avery John Creede as he searches for cavalry pals who fail to show up in Fort Benton, Montana, for the Missouri River Breaks Reunion.
